Nginx, Inc. is the commercial organization formed in July, 2011 by Igor Sysoev, the original author of NGINX.

Nginx, Inc. develops and maintains NGINX open source distribution, as well as commercial extensions on top of it. Nginx, Inc. also provides commercial support and consulting for NGINX.

NGINX was started in 2002 and launched to the public in 2004 to provide a modern web platform to serve the needs of fast growing Internet-based businesses. NGINX is now the second most popular web server worldwide for active sites, according to the latest Netcraft survey. It is used by 9.63% of all web sites and over 20% of the top 1,000 busiest web sites on the Internet, including Facebook, Zappos, Groupon, LivingSocial, Hulu, TechCrunch, Dropbox and WordPress.

NGINX has grown organically over the past 10 years thanks to the vision of Igor Sysoev and the enthusiasm and support of its loyal community of users and developers.
